In 2000, Thompson founded and has built MELT into one of the nation’s largest independent sports and event marketing agencies. This includes MELT’s 20-year representation of The Coca-Cola Company, activating 17 consecutive Final Fours, 7 consecutive seasons of ESPN College GameDay, FIFA, MLB, MLS, NCAA, Nascar, PGA and Olympics. Other national clients include AFLAC, their SEC sponsorship and sponsorship of Coach Nick Saban and many others. MELT is a full-service agency offerings its clients brand strategy, event and experiential marketing, social and digital media, content development and sponsorship strategy and consulting. Thompson, a 1984 graduate of Auburn University, was a Student Assistant in the Sports Information Department and a Sports Editor for The Auburn Plainsman. This led to the formation of MELTU, an award-winning intern program for college students. As a pivot during Covid-19, MELTU evolved to a virtual format with 1000s of students enrolled. He lectures at universities, is featured in national publications, appears on The Paul Finebaum Show, sits on boards of Samford, Emory and UGA and his forthcoming book “Build Brand You” will be released this fall.
